18th Annual Spring Collector Car Auction features over 175 classic cars this weekend – CentralAlbertaOnline.com
Over 175 classic cars will be up for auction this weekend (March 14-16) in Westerner Park’s Parkland and Prairie Pavilions.
EG Auctions is hosting its 18th Annual Spring Collector Car Auction.
President and CEO Todd Schwindt says the highlight this year is a pair of consigned car collections.
The first one is the Sterling Collection, which features 20 unreserved vehicles up for bids including several Mopar muscle cars. The second collection is the Wiebe Collection which features 12 unreserved units including a 1969 Chevy Camaro Z28 and a 1956 Ford Thunderbird.
The auction will feature cars ranging from the early 1920s right up to new exotics including Ferraris, Porsches, and McLarens. Schwindt notes they also have several muscle cars which is the strongest marketplace right now.
“There’s entry level classic cars for those who are enthusiasts but don’t quite have that car yet and then we have the high-end $250,000 muscle cars as well,” he said.
Doors open on Friday at 4 p.m. for Friday Night Lights, which will see 35 cars sold throughout the evening. Those attending can register to bid right at the door. Those who can’t make it can register and bid online at egauctions.com.
World champion auctioneer Rod Burnett will be calling the action throughout the weekend. Burnett has been a mainstay of the auction since 2006.
Special guest Mike Hall from The History Channel’s Rust Valley Restorers will also be onsite bidding on vehicles Friday evening and then signing autographs on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
EG Auctions was started up in Sylvan Lake in 1999 and has become a full-fledged auction house specializing in classic cars and the automobilia market. The company recently purchased a five-acre facility in Sylvan Lake, which will hold future sale events including the May Sylvan Lake sale. EG Auctions’ U.S. operations are based out of Palm Springs, California.
Schwindt says if you’re not in the market for a car, they’ll have lots of automobilia for sale throughout the three-day event including about 300 pieces of no reserve neon signs.
Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday with the auction getting underway at 10 a.m. Bidding starts at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
